Welcome to Shantyman.ca !

The purpose of the site is to provide an umbrella for a number of singing activities and groups that I host and/or administer.

My name is David Baril. I am a retired IT manager and amateur singer of traditional songs. I host a monthly trad song session at the Barley Mow pub in Almonte, Ontario where I live. To get more information about the session see the Almonte Trad Songs page.

I also provide support for the Ottawa Shape Note chorus which is currently hosted on the old Google Groups platform. I may at some point migrate to this site.

My wife, Judy, and I also participate in the Ottawa Contradance series which also hosts a traditional music concerts from time to time. For a more complete list of related singing and dancing activities see the links page.
